Why do I find it INCREDIBLY funny that New Jersey, OFFICIALLY, is ranked as the number 2 state with the WORST drivers in all of the US? XP
We were just talking over in the pony boards about crazy ass drivers, people merging INTO others cars and not giving a damn about it, people riding others tail pipes and blaming the other person when they rear end them, people doing 30 over the speed limit ( and those of us who try to stick to the speed limit when we laaaaaugh our asses off at the speeders as they're caught in a speed trap! X3 ), and it just got me to thinking...
Okay, OFFICIALLY, which state here in the United States is considered to have the WORST drivers in the country?
And according to GMAC Insurance's National Drivers Test for 2009, these are the results
Number 1 worst state... the state of New York ( I AGREE!! You New Yorkers are crazy ass MF'ing drivers! XP I will NOT drive in NY state, unless I'm going to the Palisades Center Mall, I will not drive in New York state. Nuuuuuuuu! )
Number 2 worst state... New Jersey, baby! Why do I find it damn funny as hell that we New Jersey drivers are considered the second most insane drivers in the country? But hey, we know how to navigate a jug handle AND circles! And man, we have... the Turnpike! *insert scary music here* Oooooh, our New Jersey Turnpike... tis a death wish for any out of staters. Hell, it's a death wish for any IN staters! The Turnpike is EVIL! I don't care what Google Maps or Mapquest tells you to do; don't EVER go on the Turnpike, if you like your life or wish to see you car stay in one undamaged piece!
Number 3 worst state... Hawaii?! Oo????
Number 4 worst state... California! I believe it! I've driven parts of route 1 before! Ooooh my god!
=Here's the article about it, from Yahoo auto research news. CLICKY!=
Last year, in 2008, New Jersey had the top spot, but New York snatched it from us this year. GRRR!!! XP

Sitting in the Rockaway AMC theater, waiting for the premiere of Harry Potter and the Half Blood Prince to start in a half hour, at 12:01 am.
Been here since 8 pm, waited on the line from hell, sketched a bit in my sketchbook, watched a bit of techpara on my Zune, played Rhythm Heaven on my DS, got a seat next to a very friendly lady who brought teen daughter and friends to see the movie, and now... we wait.
Moo.

I still need to re-work my resume and upload it to my portfolio for review, but I've at LEAST started!
Please, please, PLEASE, those of you reading this, can you PLEASE give me an honest review of what you think needs to be done to my portfolio to improve upon it?
I need some dead honest helpful critiques. No fluffies! In this case, fluffies are BAD.

I am BEAT! Thank GOD I have tomorrow off from work! I'm not going anywhere, I'm staying in my PJ's all day, I'm catching up on artwork I NEED to have finished before the 20th of July, and catching up on my ME time. I WAS thinking about going to the DA meet at the MET in NYC, but I can't afford a second trip into NYC in just a few days. Financially and physically. I need a day off to myself just to recoup and rest.

This could suck for our little ShopRite.
While we're finally starting to cater towards the food wants and needs of the growing community, especially the growing Hispanic community, the local Walmart, the one up in the Mt. Olive Trade Zone shopping center, could hurt us something bad now.
That Walmart is still considered small, by the standards set by the HUGE Walmarts down south, but it's food section, according to the brochure I was given when I walked into Wally World today, is going to be larger after their renovations are finished in five days, and they're going to be including a produce aisle. NOT COOL for Netcong ShopRite.
And no, I will not "just quit and go work for Walmart". I'm not dealing with their bullshit and really, I don't feel like being treated like shit. And... I can't walk to that Walmart. It's a 4 mile up hill, a hill that has no safe area to walk on and is INFESTED with ticks. Can't even ride a bike there safely. If you don't have a car to get there, you're screwed, and I don't always have access to a vehicle.
I'm curious to see what our store manager and the CEO's are going to do to battle to keep our customers.

The finished colors for the Scrunchy Bear piece, commissioned by the assistant manager at the store I work at part time, for this weeks ShopRite brand ice cream sandwich sale display.
Original sketch was done in my sketchbook, tight pencils and brush and ink on 11 x 8.5 inch cardstock, scanned at 600 dpi into and colored in Photoshop CS3. Finished size is 16 x 12 inches, for the display.
Yeah, I know, I used *gasp* the bevel and emboss layer effect for the background oval, however, that's EXACTLY what the design looks like on the ice cream sandwich box, so I stayed true to at LEAST that.
Scrunchy the Bear belongs to ShopRite Supermarkets.

If anyone needs me on Sunday, June 28th, aka TOMORROW, note that I will NOT be home from 9 am until late at night.
I will be at the NYC DeviantART World Tour meet in Central Park, meeting everyone else at the Bethesda Fountain.
I know there's a possibility of thunderstorms in the evening, but hey, I did Hershey Park in a DOWNPOUR, and really, that's what umbrella's are for!
To those of you going to the parade and other Pride events going on through out the day, TAKE PICTURES! I WANNA SEE! I'd go with you if it weren't for the meet, but hey, the Pride parade happens every year. The NYC DeviantART World Tour meet is a once in a lifetime event, and I reeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeally want to meet other artists, meet Spyed and Heidi ( find out what's going through their minds when it comes to DeviantART ), AND hit up Central Park again. I LOVE Central Park. And dude, it's another excuse to be the food geek that I am and go to the Whole Foods, nose around and look at and sample the tastey goodness that I can't afford to buy outright. ^^;

This year, I've been REALLY good about not purchasing My Little Pony things. At the MOST, maybe 5 of the new Ponyville line and the large Pinkie Pie ( to be used as a bait for my next BIG custom ).
But these beauties came out recently, and... well... yeah, pre-ordered.
The 2009 My Little Pony Fair peacock exclusive

and the Junko Mizuno designed pony. Of COURSE, Hasbro hid the boobs on the girl in the butt symbol, but everything else seems to be spot on, according to Junko's original design.

I've also asked my sister to ask her hubby to see if he can get his paws on this years San Diego ComicCon exclusive pony, the "two face" pony.

AP Source: Michael Jackson dies in LA Hospital
By NEKESA MUMBI MOODY and DERRIK J. LANG, Associated Press Writers Nekesa Mumbi Moody And Derrik J. Lang, Associated Press Writers – 9 mins ago
LOS ANGELES – Michael Jackson, the sensationally gifted "King of Pop" who emerged from childhood superstardom to become the entertainment world's most influential singer and dancer before his life and career deteriorated in a freakish series of scandals, died Thursday, a person with knowledge of the situation told The Associated Press. He was 50.
The person said Jackson died in a Los Angeles hospital. The person was not authorized to speak publicly and requested anonymity.
The circumstances of his death were not immediately clear. Jackson was not breathing when Los Angeles Fire Department paramedics responded to a call at his Los Angeles home about 12:30 p.m., Capt. Steve Ruda told the Los Angeles Times. The paramedics performed CPR and took him to UCLA Medical Center, Ruda told the newspaper.
Jackson's death brought a tragic end to a long, bizarre, sometimes farcical decline from his peak in the 1980s, when he was popular music's premier all-around performer, a uniter of black and white music who shattered the race barrier on MTV, dominated the charts and dazzled even more on stage.
His 1982 album "Thriller" — which included the blockbuster hits "Beat It," "Billie Jean" and "Thriller" — remains the biggest-selling album of all time, with more than 26 million copies.
He was perhaps the most exciting performer of his generation, known for his feverish, crotch-grabbing dance moves, his high-pitched voice punctuated with squeals and titters. His single sequined glove and tight, military-style jacket were trademarks second only to his ever-changing, surgically altered appearance.
As years went by, he became an increasingly freakish figure. His skin became lighter and his nose narrower. He surrounded himself with children at his Neverland ranch, often wore a germ mask while traveling and kept a pet chimpanzee named Bubbles as one of his closest companions.
In 2005, he was cleared of charges he molested a 13-year-old cancer survivor at Neverland in 2003. He had been accused of plying the boy with alcohol and groping him. The case took a fearsome toll on his career and image, and he fell into serious financial trouble.
Hundreds of people gathered outside the hospital as word of his death spread. The emergency entrance at the UCLA Medical Center, which is near Jackson's rented home, was roped off with police tape.
In New York's Times Square, a low groan went up in the crowd when a screen flashed that Jackson had died, and people began relaying the news to friends by cell phone.
"No joke. King of Pop is no more. Wow," Michael Harris, 36, of New York City, read from a text message a friend sent to his telephone. "It's like when Kennedy was assassinated. I will always remember being in Times Square when Michael Jackson died."
-----------
I honestly don't give a damn about what ANYONE else here reading this journal entry thinks about him, I've been a fan of Michael Jacksons since I was a little girl, and I will ALWAYS love his music ( though his dancing in the "Blood on the Dance Floor" video was pretty bad ^^; ).
Say what you want, but I'm sad about his passing.
I was in the middle of working on the rough sketch for Amber's maid commission and watching, "The Exorcism of Emily Rose", on dvd when I got the text from my friend, Christine, just 5 minutes ago, and I had to check Yahoo News to read about it myself. We're both MJ fans.
MJ, you shall be missed. I have my Zune with my Michael Jackson playlist going and the portable stereo pointed out of my window, blasting his tunes, in a sort of tribute.

Is it odd that my two day headache ONLY went away after I finally had some coffee?
I haven't had any coffee in about two days, or caffeine period, and it just figures that when I don't allow myself to have it, I get a headache. But after having a cup of hot coffee this morning with breakfast and a can of Starbucks Doubleshot Energy & Coffee when I went to pick up my paycheck, my headache has gone away.
Hello, my name is Debra, and I'm a coffee addict. XP
-------
Stopped at Petsmart and picked up a can of doggie deoderant and shed control doggie shampoo for Snickers bath today ( my furry chicken shit needed a bath BAD. Black labs, even after baths, still have that oily furry dog smell simply because of the oil in their fur. Water dogs. XP
Saw the betta fish they have on display, and the more I see them, the more I want one. But I REALLY need to research on them before hand. They're not like the pigs for goldfish I used to have, and don't need as much space as goldfish do, so one would be okay in the tiny space that is my room / studio space. But there is all the water treatments and special foods and such. And deciding on which shelf to keep it on that my cats won't be tempted to jump on. We'll see.

May be going into NYC on Sunday, depending on my work schedule.
Supposedly the Pride Parade is happening that day, and Luz, Spiral and some more of their friends will be going to. I do want to see what the parade is like, but that's also the rain date for the NYC DeviantART meet in Central Park, which I also REALLY want to go to. I could get some VERY much needed critiques and advice at the meet, and meet up with several other artists on DA that I admire.
So I don't know which one to go to. ;~;
I'm leaning more towards the DA meet, to be honest. How often do the actual OWNERS of DeviantART actually hold a major meet in NYC? Never. So this could be a once in a life time chance.

XP

The tight pencils for the Jack Skellington sticker design.
Yeah, he's another one that really can't be chibi-fied without looking like himself. Dang skeletons. XP

Went to see the latest Disney / Pixar movie, UP, last night.
VERY very very good movie! Shereen, you were right, I was tearing up within ten minutes of the movie starting ^^;.
Fantastic story, great story telling, I LOVE Dug... Dug is ADORABLE!!
And squeeky voice for Doberman... lol!
Though I don't know if I was more amused by Up, or the INSANE line that was wrapping around the Rockaway AMC theater for the midnight showing of the second Transformers movie. I arrived there around 8:30, and there were only a few people at the beginning of the line already. Up started around 9:05, and by the time I got out of the movie and went outside, the place was PACKED! It looked like they had everyone on staff there, security all over the building, kind of like their version of Black Friday.
My friend
i_am_slrearth started working there a few days ago, and last night, it looked like she was stuck on line crowd control. Thankfully, it didn't look like people were acting like asses, but I still felt bad for her ^^;. That place was FILLED with teens! I think I would have gone honestly insane.
The thing I got a serious kick out of were the amount of yellow Camaroes I saw there! Yes, there were at least 6 Bumblebee's at the theater. Sadly, no old school Bumblebee VW Bugs ;~;. Sorry, but I still prefer VW Bug Bumblebee. I love this new Camaroe one, but VW Bug one was BEYOND adorable.
I think I'm going to wait another week or so until I go see it. I couldn't stand being in an over crowded theater room. Slight claustrephobia...

All finished!
Just have to print out the first set of stickers, and set Sonic up on the Online Chibi Shoppe. Meh, I'll do that tomorrow after work, too tired now.
My first chance ever to play with Copic markers! Only on Sonics flesh tones, as that is all I could afford in the dealers room at AnimeNEXT, but I am in LOVE now with Copics! I just wish that more "not - online" stores sold them. I don't like purchasing markers unless I can test them in person.
There rest is done in Prismacolor markers, white gel pen and a white colored pencil.

Anyone going to the New York DeviantART meet?
Looks like the big NY DevMeet has been rescheduled for June 28th!
If I'm not scheduled to work that Sunday, I may go. No news of where it's going to be held, but the weather is supposed to be decent on the 28th, so I suggested that it still be held in Central Park.
Anyone else thinking of going?

The rough pencils for the next in line for the chibi stickers!
Okay, so Sonic the Hedgehog is already sort of chibi-fied normally, so I've just sketched him in my style instead.
Inks and colors to come soon. Sonic will be made available for sale in sticker format in The Online Chibi Shoppe. He will also be for sale at the 2009 NY Anime Festival, at the Jacob Javitts Center, at my table in the artist alley.
